30 Anniversary of the PHV Program
On March 25, the promotion of the monograph “Three Decades of Humanity” was held. The publication was written by by Ljupcho Milkovski, Vesna Terzioska, Ilina Jakimovska, and PHV Coordinator Aleksandra Ristovska, with the support of the National Society, PHV instructors, and the International Committee of the Red Cross – Belgrade Office.
Across 30 chapters and 144 pages, the story is told chronologically—from its very beginnings, through the transfer from the ICRC to the Red Cross, the period of adaptation and development, the creation of the instructor team, the training of youth and disseminators, to the results, motivation, and mentoring system.
The international dimension is also covered—experiences from Sri Lanka, Kosovo, Serbia, Albania, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, the challenges during the COVID period, PHV weeks, as well as recognitions and awarded trophies. Particularly significant are the 35 small PHV projects—one from each local Red Cross organization—as evidence of the program’s impact across the entire network.
At the very end, Ivana Marinchek, psychologist and Gestalt therapist, provides a powerful reflection on the importance of volunteering and the lasting changes that volunteers create in the community.
