World Tuberculosis Day

The Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia, in accordance with the recommendations of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, joins the observance of 24 March – World Tuberculosis Day. In this way, we aim to raise public awareness on the importance of overall health, as well as the social and economic impact of tuberculosis (TB), and to encourage accelerated efforts to end the global TB epidemic.

This year’s motto for World Tuberculosis Day of the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia is: “Yes! We can end TB.”

Tuberculosis remains a global epidemic today, causing the deaths of 1,300,000 people each year. The emergence of drug-resistant tuberculosis poses a major threat to health and risks undermining the progress made in efforts to end TB.

On the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, the Red Cross branches and the City Red Cross of Skopje will share informational posters and educational posts on social media, as well as carry out other promotional and educational activities aimed at raising public awareness about the prevention, early detection, and timely treatment of tuberculosis.
