Home Care and Support for Older Persons – Two Successfully Completed Training Cycles
The project “Home Care and Support for Older Persons”, implemented during the period from July to December, is based on a simple yet meaningful idea: every older person deserves support, attention and dignified care in a familiar and safe environment – their own home.
In order to ensure high-quality and comprehensive care for 30 beneficiaries in Centar Župa, the team engaged in the project is continuously working to improve its knowledge and skills through specialized training sessions.
On 20 and 21 July, an initial training on operational procedures was conducted for 10 volunteers, a nurse, a psychologist and a local coordinator. Participants gained practical knowledge on identifying the needs of older persons, effective communication, work organization and teamwork. Special attention was also given to the methods of collecting and recording the necessary data, as well as to opportunities for mobilizing the local community and creating a sustainable “circle of trust and care”.
The training continued on 4 and 5 August with the second cycle, dedicated to improving practical skills in providing first aid and direct psychosocial support in the field. Through the training, participants became familiar with the importance of timely and appropriate response, as well as with situations in which a particular type of assistance should be provided or, conversely, avoided.
The results of both training cycles confirmed a high level of motivation, commitment and preparedness among the team to carry out their responsibilities effectively and responsibly. The knowledge and skills acquired represent an important foundation for ensuring quality support and care for older persons in their homes.
We continue with humanity, commitment and care – step by step, towards a dignified and better old age for our fellow citizens.
