PER Workshop
In the period from October 27 to 29, 2025, a PER – Preparedness for Effective Response workshop of the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia was held at the Solferino Center in Struga, with the support of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
The workshop was organized with the aim of reviewing and updating the existing work plan within the PER framework, as well as enhancing the organization’s capacities for preparedness and effective disaster and crisis response at both the national and local levels.
Participants included staff members from the Head Office of the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia, as well as representatives from Red Cross branches, who actively contributed to the analysis of existing capacities, identification of gaps, and prioritization of future activities.
Facilitators were representatives from the IFRC Regional Office and the Disaster Management Coordinator of the Red Cross of North Macedonia. The workshop was conducted in an interactive, participatory, and practice-oriented manner, combining plenary sessions with work in thematic groups.
As a result of the process, a PER tool was developed following the standard IFRC template, containing specific recommendations and activities for improving the preparedness and response system. This tool serves as a key instrument for national societies, enabling a systematic approach to capacity assessment, priority setting, and long-term intervention planning.
The PER process not only contributes to strengthening the organization’s operational preparedness, but also provides a basis for the development of new project initiatives and partnerships with donors, institutions, and other stakeholders.
The results and priorities defined through this workshop will serve as the foundation for identifying future programs and projects in the areas of risk reduction, climate adaptation, volunteer management, logistics, and response coordination, as well as for ensuring alignment with the strategic goals of the IFRC and global humanitarian standards.
