Speaker of the Assembly Afrim Gashi visited the Red Cross

On August 14, 2025, the Speaker of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia, Afrim Gashi, visited the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia. As part of the visit, he held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Red Cross, Sait Saiti.

During the visit, they discussed the current cooperation as well as the possibilities for its further enhancement. The issue of initiating a procedure for adopting a new Law on Volunteering was raised, with the aim of improving the conditions and status of volunteers in the country. Additionally, the importance of promoting the Geneva Conventions and the Additional protocols was emphasized. On the occasion of December 5 – International Volunteer Day – the Red Cross proposed organizing a volunteer activity involving members of the Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia.

Speaker Gashi highlighted the importance of the role the Red Cross plays in society, especially during times of crisis, as well as the need for institutional support for organizations dedicated to humanitarian work.

Secretary General Saiti expressed gratitude for the support, stressing the need for close cooperation with all relevant state representatives in order to ensure more efficient and coordinated action on the ground.
