The Red Cross of RNM strengthens its drone-operation capacities

The training was organized in two levels – basic and advanced – enabling a gradual development of the participants’ practical and technical knowledge. The basic level covered safe drone operation, basic flight maneuvers, flight planning, and risk assessment.

The advanced level focused on working in complex conditions and using advanced functions, with special attention to thermal-drone operations. Participants were trained in precise aerial observation, terrain monitoring, and carrying out missions in challenging environments. Thermal technology enables detection of heat signatures, which is crucial for nighttime search and detection operations, as well as for identifying individuals, assessing damaged areas, and working in inaccessible or high-risk regions.

As a result of successfully completing the training, the representatives obtained official licenses to operate drones in categories A1 and A3, in accordance with applicable aviation safety regulations.

With this, the Red Cross of North Macedonia significantly strengthens its capacities for rapid response, field assessments, support in search and rescue operations, and more effective action in humanitarian and crisis situations.
