Training on realistic depiction of wounds and injuries
From July 19 to 21, 2025, at the camp “Scout” in Struga, the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia conducted a training on the realistic depiction of wounds and injuries. The training was intended for Red Cross volunteers and staff, with the goal of strengthening the National Society’s capacity for injury simulation in first aid scenarios.
A total of 24 participants from local Red Cross branches attended the training. They were divided into working groups for practical exercises, and the training was delivered by two certified trainers Dime Karatashev and Elena Nikolovska from the Red Cross.
The training included activities such as familiarization with makeup materials, creation of a basic special effects makeup kit, and techniques for the realistic depiction of wounds and injuries—such as bleeding, cuts, fractures, burns, amputations, and conditions resulting from first aid scenarios. Practical work was carried out through the development and staging of simulation scenarios, both individually and in groups.
Participants created basic makeup kits for personal use in their local Red Cross branches. Through team exercises and creative scenario simulations, they strengthened their practical and communication skills.
