Workshop on Evaluation and Lessons Learned
From July 13 to 15, 2025, the final workshop for evaluation and lessons learned was held at the Solferino Training Center in Struga, as part of the project “DREF Operation 2025 – Nightclub Fire in Kočani,” supported by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
The workshop was attended by volunteers and staff of the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia who were directly involved in the response to the tragic event, as well as representatives from the Crisis Management Center, the Chamber of Psychologists, the General Hospital Kočani, the Department for Protection and Rescue Kočani (DPD Kočani), the Kočani Territorial Firefighting Unit, the school psychologist from “Kiril and Metodij” Primary School in Kočani, and delegates from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
The workshop focused on operational reflection and coordination, a review of undertaken activities, institutional response, partnerships and collaboration, lessons learned, good practices and recommendations, as well as planning and preparedness for action in future emergency situations.
This event served as an important opportunity for all involved parties to exchange experiences, conduct a critical evaluation of the response, and define the next steps for more effective intervention in similar future incidents.
