Participation in a Youth Meeting in Solferino, Italy

Two youth representatives from the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia participated in the Second Meeting of Youth Leaders of the Europe and Central Asia Red Cross and Red Crescent Youth Network, held in Solferino, Italy, from 24 to 28 June.

The meeting brought together youth leaders from the Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies across Europe and Central Asia to exchange experiences, strengthen youth participation in decision-making processes, and prepare for the upcoming statutory meetings of the Movement.

Through workshops, thematic sessions, and discussions, our representatives actively contributed to conversations on youth policies within the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, climate change, mental health, humanitarian diplomacy, and strengthening youth leadership.

As part of the event, they also participated in the traditional Fiaccolata—a ceremonial torchlight procession through Solferino, held each year to honor the victims of the Battle of Solferino and commemorate the birth of the idea that led to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. This symbolic event brings together thousands of volunteers and members from around the world in the spirit of humanity, solidarity, and voluntary service.
