Psychosocial support for children evacuated after the floods in Kichevo

The Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia, through the Center for Mental Health and Psychosocial Support, in coordination with trained teams and volunteers for psychological first aid, is implementing activities to support children evacuated following the floods in Kichevo.

The activities are carried out in the sports hall “Hristo Uzunov,” where the affected families are temporarily accommodated. Within the established “Child-Friendly Space,” a safe and stimulating environment is provided, enabling children to play, socialize, and regain a sense of safety during the crisis.

Through structured educational and creative content—such as drawing, group workshops, and interactive activities—professional teams provide comprehensive psychosocial support aimed at reducing stress and facilitating the coping process with the consequences of the floods. These activities contribute to the stabilization and strengthening of the children’s psychological, emotional, and social well-being.

The Red Cross remains committed to providing continuous and coordinated assistance to the affected population, with a special focus on the most vulnerable groups, particularly children.
