World Blood Donor Day – 14 June 2022

World Blood Donor Day takes place on 14 June each year. Every year countries around the world celebrate World Blood Donor Day (WBDD). The event serves to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank voluntary, unpaid blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood. Among the IFRC network, the level of participation in World Blood Donor Day varies by National Society (NS).

This year’s theme (from World Health Organisation): For 2022, the World Blood Donor Day slogan is “Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort and save lives” to draw attention to the roles that voluntary blood donations play in saving lives and enhancing solidarity within communities
