Marking the Hygiene Week (April 8-15, 2025)

The Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia will mark Hygiene Week from April 8 to 15, 2025, in accordance with the calendar of traditional activities, under the motto “Hygiene – a personal responsibility for collective health.”

Promoting hygiene is a fundamental part of the water and sanitation activities of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The goal is to raise awareness on public health and prevention of diseases related to poor hygiene practices. According to the World Health Organization, 1.7 million deaths annually are attributed to unsafe water, sanitation, and hygiene.

To collectively contribute to raising public awareness on the importance of proper and regular hygiene among the youth population, the Red Cross branches and the City Red Cross of Skopje will share posts on social media and organize educational workshops and lectures to promote hygiene among children and teachers in kindergartens and primary schools.
