Celebration of the International Volunteer Day – December 5th
Volunteering is an important aspect of the work of the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia, and has been part of the overall development of our organization. Volunteering is crucial for our organizational model and enables us to have a direct and close link with the communities and our social, developmental and humanitarian action. That is why our organization makes special efforts to nurture and promote volunteering.
On the occasion of the International Volunteer Day, Red Cross of RNM organized a special event on December 3rd at the DoubleTree by Hilton Skopje Hotel in order to pay tribute for the contribution of the Red Cross volunteers. The event was marked under the motto “The heroes among us – Unstoppable” referring to the special efforts of our volunteers who act sometimes in exceptional circumstances to provide support and assistance to various target groups affected by emergencies and risks.
At the event, PhD. Sait Saiti Secretary General of the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia addressed the present, and spoke about the importance of volunteering in the country and in the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Also a message was read from Mr. Stevo Pendarovski, President of the Republic of North Macedonia who warmly expressed gratitude for the contribution of the Red Cross volunteers.
On the occasion of the International Volunteer Day, the Red Cross of RNM awarded 11 Certificates of appreciation to volunteers of the Red Cross of RNM who made a special contribution in the realization of the objectives and tasks of the national society in 2021. The certificates of appreciation were awarded by Ms. Elizabeta Gjorgieska, wife of the President of RNM, Mr. Stevo Pendarovski and the Secretary General of the Red Cross of RNM, PhD. Sait Saiti.
At the event there was also an exhibition of posters with motives from the work of volunteers of the Red Cross branches and the City Red Cross of Skopje.
On December 3rd, various activities were organized by the Red Cross branches and the city Red Cross of Skopje throughout the country in order to raise public awareness on the importance of the contribution of volunteers in the local communities.
