Rescue Station Vodno

The Rescue Station on Vodno, owned by the Red Cross of the City of Skopje, the first and only one in Macedonia, has been operating for three years. Years that mean a lot for the safety of the numerous visitors on the mountain Vodno. In particular, with the construction of the Millennium Cross and the asphalting of the road to the top of the mountain, the number of hikers and tourists has significantly increased, and the risk of various injuries and the need for their care has increased as well.

In the past years the volunteers of the Red Cross of Skopje, more precisely the mountain rescue team was trained to provide professional, fast and efficient assistance and was a guarantee for the safety of visitors to Mount Vodno. The volunteers were on duty at the Rescue Station on weekends and holidays and the results were impressive. During 2007, there were about 150 interventions. The lightly injured were provided with first aid on the spot, and the more seriously injured, after the administrated first aid, were transported by Red Cross vehicle to the nearest health institution.

In addition to first aid interventions, the mountaineers on duty helped the visitors to better orient themselves, organized searches for missing persons, educated the visitors through visual exercises, marked the paths and so on.

For better information of the citizens, the Red Cross of the City of Skopje developed a flyer with informative content about the work of the Rescue Station and the contact phone.
