National workshop – „Domestic elderly care”

Macedonian Red Cross in frames of the project “Domestic elderly care” supported by Austrian Red Cross and Austrian agency for development,  in the period of 10-12 September 2013 in the Training center Solferino in Struga, has organized a national workshop. The goal of the workshop was to present the results of the current project activities and the need of development and improvement of services for the old people at their homes. On it there were also presented the results of the evaluation of the project activities that were implemented starting from June 2011 through the city Red Cross of Skopje and the Red Cross Branches Veles and Kriva Palanka. The conclusions say that there are positive effects from the provided services to the elderly people by the volunteers and nurses, and there is a need for further continuance of this type of activities.

At the workshop there were representatives from the Austrian Red Cross, Croatian Red Cross, representatives from governmental institutions, social and health institutions, as well as representatives from local teams. Also there was the possibility being reviewed for continuing the project in the next period.
