Marking HIV/AIDS Awareness Week (December 1-7, 2024)
The Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia, from December 1-7, 2024, in accordance with the calendar of traditional activities, will mark HIV/AIDS Awareness Week under the slogan “Together in the Fight Against HIV/AIDS.”
HIV remains a significant global health issue. In 2023, 1.3 million new HIV infections were reported. Sexual health and rights are essential for achieving human rights, good health, and overall well-being, especially for those living with HIV or at risk of HIV infection.
During this week, the local Red Cross branches will carry out activities aimed at raising public awareness among the younger population. This will include peer education workshops in high schools, creation of short educational videos with messages on HIV prevention, sharing information and posters on social media, and other related activities.
