Regional meeting of Disaster Management Coordinators and Logistics Officers of Red Cross National Societies

From December 10-13, 2024, a regional meeting of Disaster Management Coordinators and Logistics Officers from Red Cross National Societies was held in Zagreb, Croatia. The meeting was organized by the Croatian Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, with participation of Red Cross representatives from Albania, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Slovenia.

Participants had the opportunity to visit the Croatian Red Cross Disaster Preparedness and Response Operations Center and learn about the capacities and structural setup of the national society for disaster preparedness and response.

During the meeting, proposals were made to supplement and amend the regional software of the web application X-Stock, and training was provided for the new National Societies that joined the project. Disaster management coordinators presented the activities carried out in 2024, focusing on the positive and negative aspects of the implemented projects. The representative of the Red Cross of North Macedonia shared experiences in dealing with fires in North Macedonia, with an emphasis on cooperation with government institutions and the International Federation.

The Disaster Management Coordinator from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies presented plans for 2025. He emphasized that the International Federation has provided stock reserves in hygiene packages, which are stored in the warehouses of the Croatian Red Cross and the Serbian Red Cross. These stocks are available for the Red Cross National Societies in the region via the X-Stock application.
