Participation in a European workshop on fraud awareness and response to corruption
In the period from 03 to 05 June 2024, in Budapest, Hungary, a representative from the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia participated in a workshop organized by the Swiss Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, dedicated to raising awareness on fraud and response to corruption in operations, which presented practical examples of detecting vulnerability to corruption and fraud, building red lines when it comes to such activities and development of a risk management plan through the application of soft and hard control measures, identification of signs of fraud and integrity hotline reporting protocol.
The importance of building a high organizational culture of respect for the established policies in each national society was emphasized in order to detect, prevent and respond to the risks of fraud and corruption. Emphasis was placed on managing the risk of fraud and corruption during public procurement procedures, the risks that cybercrime carries with it with examples of their mitigation, risk management in the case of cash transfers, as well as the importance of protection and prevention of sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment. ”
