Red Cross Forum on Voluntary Blood Donation
Red Cross Forum on Voluntary Blood Donation on the topic of “Blood donation in crisis situations and epidemics” was held in Struga in hotel Solferino in the period of 10-12 July 2020. The Forum was attended by 21 participants, members of the Governing Board of and employees of the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia, representatives of the Institute for Transfusion Medicine, representatives of the General Staff of the ARM, representatives of the Red Cross branches, Blood Donors Club, Macedonian Radio and Television, companies and others.
At the opening of the Forum, the Vice President of the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Dimitar Karakulev, addressed the audience and officially opened the forum.
Two topics were discussed at the Forum in two sessions:
- “Control and prevention of COVID 19 and the role of the Red Cross in dealing with the organization of blood donation activities in crisis situations and epidemics”;
- “Blood donation in times of COVID 19”.
The participants on the Forum also discussed the preparation of policies and the Strategy for blood donation in crisis situations and epidemics. The participants adopted general conclusions on Voluntary Blood Donation.
