“We are all their children”
In the period of 15 to 21 November 2021 the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia will mark the “Week of care for older people” under the motto: “We are all their children.” The purpose of the celebration of the week is to raise public awareness on the need for increased integration of the older people in all spheres of social life, as well as the need to provide care and assistance to the older people.
Support in marking the week is provided by UNFPA with which the Red Cross of RNM will cooperate in the coming period on current issues for the older population, as well as health prevention of vulnerable target groups. Support is provided for the functioning of 8 mobile teams for free of charge service for procurement and delivery of food, hygiene, medicines, etc. for older and lonely people. During the week the Red Cross will organize 20 information workshops with the older people to introduce them to the rights on social and health care in order to improve their quality of life and healthy aging. The Red Cross will also organize 3 trainings for caregivers to provide support and care to older people and people with disabilities. The training will cover 30 long-term unemployed vulnerable people who will be trained to provide home care and assistance to older people.
In addition to these activities, the Red Cross of the City of Skopje and the Red Cross branches in cooperation with local partners and supporters will organize educational workshops on topics of interest to senior citizens, thematic workshops to encourage social inclusion of the older people, and other activities for active and healthy aging.
