Week for Care for Older People

The modern world is in a process of demographic transition, not only in terms of slowing population growth, but also its structure is changing due to the reduction of youth participation and the increase of the number of older people. As in other countries, in the Republic of North Macedonia as well, the number of the older people is growing, and this trend is expected to increase even more in the future.

In addition to the assistance provided by the competent institutions, the care and assistance for the older people is one of the basic program activities of the Red Cross of RNM. Particular emphasis is placed on the development of services for the delivery of social and health services for assistance and care for the older people in their homes.

In order to emphasize the importance of the need for increased integration of the older people, the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia from 16 to 22 November 2020 will mark the Week for care for older people with appropriate activities under the motto “We are all their children.”
