OPEN SPACE FIRES

The Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia is active in the operation for coping with the fires in the country and through its mobile team is providing logistic support on teams, institutions and citizens engaged for extinguishing the fires.

During the field activities there were distributed a total of 10 tons of water for the firefighting forces in the regions affected by fires and 20,000 flyers were distributed for protection from forest fires as well as promotion on social networks.

 

Installed is tanks – system for charging on helicopters with water that shortens the time for extinguishing fire with total capacity from 25.000 liters with constantly replenishment, operated by a team Red Cross of RNM and the teams from the local self-governments in the respective regions.

An overall assessment was done on terrain with drone in the area on mountain Serta-Shtip. Provided are relief items and placed on availability ( water , food) . Upon request of  NM Army – Wing , from RCNM is provided a field service vehicle with driver, for transport on the navigators on helicopters and airplanes who extinguish fires in locations in the municipality of Bitola, Rosoman and Chashka .

For the activities 150 volunteers and staff are involved.

Psychological support: The Red Cross RNM has opened SOS telephone lines for psychological first aid for the population affected by the fires. PFA is provided by trained Red Cross volunteers. Any interested person affected from the fires can ask questions and receive answers and advice on how to deal with the situation that threatens well-being on the citizens. The open phone lines are divided into regions and municipalities .
