PROTECTION OF THE POPULATION FROM HEAT WAVES HOW TO BEHAVE AT HIGH TEMPERATURES

For several years, the Red Cross of RNM has been actively involved in preventive and field activities to protect the population from heat waves that affect our country in the summer period.

According to the data received from the of Public Health Institute and the weather alarm of the National Hydrometeorological Service on 11.06.2024 (Tuesday) and 12.06.2024 (Wednesday), the territory of the cities of Gevgelija, Bogdanci, Valandovo and Dojran will be affected by high temperatures in orange phase, while the Skopje and Vardar Regions will be affected by the yellow (alert) phase. General recommendations from the Ministry of Health will apply for these regions.

For this purpose, the Red Cross Branches and City Red Cross of Skopje will conduct various field activities to protect the health of the population from heat waves, such as: distribution of bottled water, patrolling of mobile teams to provide first aid, distribution of flyers and advice on protection from heat waves and blood pressure measurement in busy places with a special emphasis on protecting the vulnerable population (elderly, children, homeless, pregnant women, people with chronic diseases and others).
