Training of Trainers on Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment
The Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia, with the support of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies – Budapest, organized a Training of Trainers on vulnerability and capacity assessment in the period of November 12 to 16, 2024, at the “Solferino” Training Center in Struga.
The training was attended by representatives from the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia, German Red Cross, Bulgarian Red Cross, Armenian Red Cross, Croatian Red Cross, the Georgian Red Cross, and Red Cross of Serbia, as well as representatives from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
The training focused on developing the capacity of trainers on vulnerability and capacity assessment of communities, aiming to improve disaster preparedness. During the training, participants were trained in using assessment tools that help identify people’s exposure to risks and their capacities to cope and recover from disasters.
As part of the practical component of the training, participants conducted a field assessment in the Municipality of Ohrid, where they were divided into four groups. They held working meetings with various local institutions: representatives from the Municipality of Ohrid, crisis management officers, public utilities such as Water Supply and Civil Engineering, the Crisis Management Center, the Public Health Center, the Social Work Center, the Tourism and Local Economic Development Sector, and representatives from the Red Cross Branch Ohrid.
