Undertaken activities For risk reduction from heat waves and fires in open space

HEAT WAVE

In terms of responding to heat waves, the Red Cross of RNM implemented activities on the ground through mobile patrols with water distribution and informative flyers for protection from hot weather. They also carried out actions for support of old and most vulnerable citizens, administered first aid, provided transport with air-conditioned vehicles to the nearest medical facility or to the home of a person at risk. These activities are usually performed in the most frequented places in the cities.

Also, information is regularly published on social networks and public information for the danger from the heat wave and direct exposure on the people under the sun and flyers with content for protection from high temperatures are distributed . Representatives from the Red Cross are regular guests in contact shows to raise awareness about protection from heat waves.

For the field activities 150 volunteers and staff are involved and a total of 12 tons of water were distributed to the citizens as well as 20,000 flyers with advice on heat wave prevention, while the First aid teams administered 800 interventions to citizens in need of help.
