Conducted visit to the Red Cross Branches in Vranje and Bujanovac
The Macedonian Red Cross this year is a project partner for the implementation of the Project “Challenge for an Innovative Security Solution – Meal for All”, coordinated by Ajde Makedonija association, financially supported by the Fund for Innovation and Technological Development. The goal of the project is to create a sustainable solution that will provide nationally a system that will utilize market surpluses in order to provide nutritious meals for larger and different categories of socially endangered citizens who need it.
The Red Cross of Serbia has many years of experience in implementing a social program for providing a warm meal for vulnerable target population groups through the operation of the public kitchens that are managed by them. In order to gain some knowledge about their positive experiences in the functioning of the public kitchens, on July 4, 2019, representatives of the City Red Cross of Skopje staff, as well as a representative of the association “Ajde Makedonija”, had a visit to the Red Cross Branches Vranje and Bujanovac, as well as the field activities where food is prepared and distributed for vulnerable populations. Since 1991, up to date, 33,715 hot meals have been continuously prepared in Serbia, through 77 public kitchens run by the Red Cross. There is 1 kitchen in Belgrade, which prepares a hot meal for 13,500 users and is distributed in 17 municipalities in the city.
From the visit, there was an opportunity to obtain information that would be useful in drafting a solution with models eligible for institutional support.
