Disaster Preparedness and Response – Training
During the period from 22 to 24.03.2018 in the training center “Solferino”, Struga, there was a training for disaster preparedness and action for 30 volunteers and representatives of the expert service of the Red Cross branches of the Republic of Macedonia and the Red Cross of the city of Skopje, within the project “Disaster Risk Reduction” supported by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
During the training for preparedness and acting in case of disasters, through interactive exercises, lectures and exchange of experiences worked the following topics: The role of the Red Cross in the system for disaster management in the Republic of Macedonia, Security and risks on the field, Fast field assessment, SCOPE Standards, Communication and coordination during crisis situations as well as monitoring and evaluation of humanitarian operations. As part of the training, one practical exercise was conducted, a case study “Floods in the territory of the Republic of Macedonia”, which analyzed data from the obtained assessment and situation on the ground, prepared a plan for action as well as preparation of information on the occurred disaster.
The training was conducted by the trainers for disaster preparedness and response in the Red Cross of the Republic of Macedonia according to the methodology of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for training disaster response teams.
