Education of caregivers for assistance and care of older persons and persons with disabilities at risk of domestic violence and gender-based violence

Within the Project “Mitigating the effects and consequences of COVID-19 on the most vulnerable in society with a special focus on the older people”, financed by the Austrian Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection, and supported by the Austrian Red Cross, the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia organized the second workshop for education of caregivers for assistance and care of older persons and persons with disabilities at risk of domestic violence and gender-based violence. The training was organized in the period of 01 to 03 September 2023 in the educational training center “Solferino” in Struga.

The purpose of the trainings was to sensitize the trained caregivers on the risks of family and gender-based violence on older people and persons with disabilities, recognizing the signs of violence, reporting the problem and connecting with competent institutions in the system, responsible for the protection of victims of family violence and gender-based violence. The workshop was attended by 30 caregivers who were trained within the project activities through the City Red Cross of Skopje and the Red Cross Branch Veles.
