March 17th, day of the foundation of the Macedonian Red Cross and Blood Donation Day in the Republic of Macedonia
On 17th March, day of foundation of the Macedonian Red Cross and Blood Donation Day in the RM, the Macedonia Red Cross this year on March 15, marked the day ceremonially and in business manner.
The working part started with the fourth session of the Assembly of the Macedonian Red Cross for the mandate period 2017-2021. In accordance with the provisions of the Statute, the Work Program and the Financial Plan for 2019 was approved at the session and the Annual Report on Work and the Annual Financial Report for 2018 were adopted. Before the participants, Phd.Sait Saiti, Secretary General of the Macedonian Red Cross, presented their address for these documents.
Dr.Romel Velev, President of the Macedonian Red Cross, addressed the official ceremony held at the National Theater Jordan Hadzi Konstantinov-Dzinot, addressing the role, tasks and goals of the Organization. March 17th is an important day for blood donation, and the support comes from the Ministry of Health, the Institute of Transfusion Medicine and other institutions. The official event is enriched with the presence of Dr. Venko Filipce, Minister of Health, Dr. Sadula Usaini, director of the Institute for Transfusion Medicine, the Mayor of the Municipality of Veles, Mr. Ace Kocevski, the Mayor of the Municipality of Gradsko, Mr. Robert Beshovski, who in their address emphasized the cooperation with the Red Cross and the humanity of the blood donors.
With the decision of the Managing Board of the Macedonian Red Cross with financial means, the three most successful Red Cross branches – Veles, Centar, and Vinica – were awarded and a total of 17 Municipal organizations that exceeded the blood donation plan for 2018 (Bitola, Karpos, Delcevo, Cair, Valandovo, Krushevo, Negotino, Kriva Palanka, Struga, Kavadarci, Probistip, Gazi Baba, Stip, Sveti Nikole) received recognition plaques in accordance with the Program for organizing and promoting blood donation in the Republic of Macedonia, which is adopted each year by the Government of the Republic of Macedonia. Macedonian Red Cross honors and gratifies the present and future blood donors who save one’s life with the act of blood donation, as well as all volunteers and members of this most massive humanitarian organization.
