International exercise for search and rescue from ruins “Earthquake Skopje”

The international exercise for search and rescue from ruins “Earthquake Skopje” was held on the occasion of the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the disastrous earthquake in Skopje. The exercise was organized by the Protection and Rescue Directorate (PRD) in cooperation with the Embassy of R. Greece at SRC Saraj on May 16, 2023.

Search and rescue teams from of Thessaloniki, R. Greece, PRD (members from Skopje, Tetovo, Strumica, Kriva Palanka), TFB of the city of Skopje and a team from the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia took part in the exercise.

The exercise was followed by H.E. Ms. Sophia Philippidou, Ambassador of R. Greece, accompanied by her team, Ms. Danela Arsovska, mayor of the city of Skopje, representatives from UNDP and the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria, representatives from the municipality of Saraj, etc. The host of the event, on behalf of the PRD, was Mr. Zulfiqar Zejnulai, Deputy Director of the Protection and Rescue Directorate.
