This event was organized by the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia, in cooperation with the Macedonian Culture and Information Center in Zagreb, Croatia and the Municipality of Ohrid.
“Priče iz našeg mlina” is a book about the Nursing school Mlinarska in Zagreb, the first in the country at that time, about the years of their education, about the professional practice of Zagreb clinics, about nurses in general.
The General Secretary of Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Sait Saiti was also present at the promotion who said that they are not looking for praise and are not waiting for recognition. Unwavering in spite of everything, they continue their amazing work. They bring new life to our world. With their work, they demonstrate one and only truth, that despite all the drugs and advances of modern medicine, the human act of kindness is the medicine that changes lives. Such a change also changes the world for the better. With this, they contribute to highlighting the great role that nursing field plays in the entire health system.
Like Henri Dinan, whose vision to create the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement was born on the battlefield of Solferino, Italy in 1859, Florence Nightingale’s experience during the Crimean War (1854-1856) not only inspired her work to transform health care, but also helps lay the foundations for the work of national Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies in carrying out the traditional task of caring for wounded and sick members of the armed forces. In fact, Henri Dinant himself says that the example set by Florence Nightingale inspired his work to found the Red Cross.
