Roundtable on Tracing Service / Restoring Family Links
The Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia hosted a roundtable on December 11, 2024, on the topic of Restoring Family Links. Participants included representatives from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Social Policy, Demography, and Youth, the Social Work Center, the Crisis Management Center, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Red Cross of Serbia, Croatian Red Cross (online participation), UNHCR, the Association of Young Lawyers, the Jesuit Refugee Service, the City Red Cross of Skopje, and Red Cross branches of Gevgelija and Kumanovo.
The aim of this event, supported by the International Committee of the Red Cross, was to increase the visibility of the Tracing Service among its external and internal partners, specifically state institutions and local and international organizations present in the country.
The roundtable discussed the role of the Tracing Service / Restoring Family Links at a global level and in the Republic of North Macedonia, the tools it uses in its work, and its legal framework. The focus was also placed on the 2015 Migrant Crisis, the challenges it posed, and how the Tracing Service / Restoring Family Links of the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia dealt with these challenges.
