“We are all their children”
From November 20 to 26, 2023, the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia is marking the “Week of care for the older people” under the motto: “We are all their children”. The purpose of marking the week is to raise public awareness on the need for increased integration of the older people in all spheres of social life, as well as the need to provide care and assistance to the older people.
Support for marking the week is provided by UNFPA, which is a long-lasting partner of the Red Cross of RNM on different issues related to the wellbeing of older people, as well as health prevention of vulnerable target groups. Support is provided for the operation of 7 mobile teams of Red Cross volunteers for a free service for procurement and delivery of food, hygiene, medicines, etc. for older and frail people in Skopje, Bitola, Veles, Gostivar, Kichevo and Kochani.
During the week, through the City Red Cross of Skopje and the Red Cross branches in the country, 26 informational workshops will be organized with older people, to familiarize them with their rights on social and health protection in order to improve their quality of life and healthy aging, as well as organized actions for free measurement of sugar in the blood.
In addition to these activities, in cooperation with local partners and supporters, educational workshops will be organized on topics of interest to older citizens, thematic workshops to encourage social inclusion of older people, as well as other types of activities for active and healthy aging.
