10 years of cooperation – caring for others, humanity in practice

Today, on September 11, 2019, the Embassy of the United States of America in Skopje marked the American National Day of Service and Remembrance of the Victims (September 11) through a blood donation and fundraising action in cooperation with the Red Cross and the Institute of Transfusion Medicine. The event was attended by the Secretary General of the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia, Mr. Sait Saiti, the Ambassador of the United States of America, Mrs. Kate Marie Byrnes, representative of the Institute of Transfusion Medicine, parliamentarians, ministers, representatives of religious communities and volunteers.

Mr Sait Saiti, Secretary General of the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia, emphasized in his address that the beginning of this cooperation was in 2009 on the occasion of the US National Day of Service and Remembrance of the 9/11 Victims, an event that changed the global perception of suffering.

In the past years, we have been recognized in the community as an example of individual and social responsibility in our country, because this has become an event that is very much supported by many of our friends, associates, donors.

These ten years of cooperation have been marked with building friendships, caring for people, humanity in practice. Over the years we have learned more about each other, embraced diversity, laid solid foundations that we have built over time. We need to keep improving to adapt to the rapidly changing world.

The feeling that you are helping and supporting and being close to those who need help makes us all feel more important. There are 2,200 blood donors who have donated blood in the past 10 years. Deep respect and gratitude to all donors with the support of 12 tons of food and 250,000.00 denars that enabled us prepare 1880 food parcels that we used for direct support of 7520 people.
