December 5th, International Volunteer Day

Every year on the December 5, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement celebrates the International Volunteer Day. At the global level, each year, over 16 million volunteers in the Red Cross and Red Crescent national societies, contribute for improving the lives of vulnerable populations.

This year, the Red Cross of RNM celebrates the International  Volunteer Day, December 5, under the motto “Hope” in order to recognize the contribution of volunteers and to raise awareness on the importance of volunteering and the hope for a better tomorrow and a more dignified life for the people brought by the volunteers through the activities and the personal engagement in the local communities. The Red Cross of RNM, through the Red Cross branches and the City Red Cross of Skopje, will mark the International Volunteer Day with various activities and festivities throughout the country. Promotional activities will be organized in primary and secondary schools, theater performances, dissemination sessions, events to recognize the outstanding performance of volunteers, humanitarian campaigns to support vulnerable categories of the population, blood donation drives and a series of other activities in order to give recognition for the contribution of the volunteers but also to emphasize the importance of volunteering in the Red Cross as the largest humanitarian volunteer organization in the country and in the world.

We continue to nurture and encourage volunteerism in order to achieve our common goals – to be humane and dignified and to help people who are in trouble.
