Forum of Non-Governmental Organizations within the UNECE Ministerial Conference on Aging
This year, the Ministerial Conference on Aging takes place in Lisbon, Portugal on 21 and 22 September, organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). The theme of the conference is: “Sustainable Society for All Ages: Realizing Potentials for Longer Living”.
Within the framework of the conference on September 20, a forum of non-governmental organizations working on aging programs was held, at which draft recommendations were prepared on the three topics of the conference, which will be followed by expert panel discussions:
- Recognize the potentials of the elderly
- Encourage longer working life and ability to work
- Providing dignified aging
Representatives of the Macedonian Red Cross and the CSO Humanity participated in the forum, along with representatives of the Red Cross of Serbia and the Association “Osmiye” from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The purpose of the participation of the non-governmental organizations at the NGO Forum was to take part in the revision of the Madrid International Action Plan (MIPA) and the Implementation of the UNECE Regional Strategy, ie to give suggestions to Member States to strengthen the MIPA potential as an instrument to protect the rights of the elderly
