Regional meeting for development of Red Cross National Societies

In the period November 26-29, 2023, a regional meeting for development of the cluster of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for Southeast Europe was held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. At the regional meeting, desk officers from the National Societies from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Romania, North Macedonia, Croatia and Montenegro exchanged good practices and experiences and discussed the activities and challenges in the development of the National Societies.

The meeting was facilitated by IFRC representatives, and focused on current and future activities in the area of development, IFRC policies that are directly related to this topic, opportunities for financial support, learning and communication platforms as well as individual networking of people working in the field of development.

The Red Cross of RSM presented the “Development framework of the Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia – Transformation-28”, the experiences in the implementation of policies for protection of integrity, the experiences in implementing the model of the IFRC for assessing the organizational capacities of the Red Cross branches organizations and the program Red Cross in Action – Promotion of humane values as a tool for recruiting and retaining volunteers. The shared experiences generated great interest among the partner national societies for future bilateral and regional cooperation initiatives.
