“Training for disaster preparedness and response for Local Red Cross Branch Bitola”
From 14 to 16.12.2017, Macedonian Red Cross together with the Local Red Cross Branch Bitola organized a training on preparedness and response in case of disasters in Bitola, as part of the project “Risk reduction activities in micro-regions Bitola and Gostivar”.
On the training, through interactive exercises, lectures and exchange of experiences for the topics The role of the Red Cross in the disaster management system in the Republic of Macedonia, Security and risks on field, Humanitarian aid and distribution, Rapid field assessment, Psychosocial support, First Aid, SPHERE Standards, Shelter and Camp Management as well as Communication in Crisis, the volunteers were trained for disaster preparedness and response. On the training, 3 practical exercises were conducted together with role players: Case Study “Cold Wave” (communication with institutions, data analysis and preparation of a plan for action), Communication with media (holding a press conference and Camp management (sheltering people affected by a cold wave).
The training was conducted by trainers for disaster preparedness and response of the Macedonian Red Cross according to the methodology of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies for trainings for disaster response teams.
