Training for caregivers for assistance and care for older people and persons with disabilities on risks of domestic violence and gender-based violence
The Red Cross of the Republic of North Macedonia organized a workshop for the training of caregivers for assistance and care for older people and persons with disabilities on the risks of domestic violence and gender-based violence. The training was organized within the Project “Mitigating the effects and consequences of COVID-19 on the most vulnerable in society with a special focus on the older people”, financed by the Austrian Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection, with support of the Austrian Red Cross. The training was conducted in the educational training center “Solferino” in Struga from June 11 to 13, 2023.
The purpose of the education was to sensitize the trained caregivers on the risks of family and gender-based violence on older people and persons with disabilities, recognizing the signs of violence, reporting the problem and connecting with competent institutions in the system, responsible for the protection of victims of family violence and gender-based violence. The workshop was attended by 28 caregivers who were trained within the project activities through the Red Cross branches of Kichevo and Kumanovo.
