Participation at the 66th session of the General Assembly of the Bulgarian Red Cross
In the period from May 25-26, 2018, the Secretary General of the Macedonian Red Cross, PhD. Sait Saiti participated at the 66th session of the General Assembly of the Bulgarian Red Cross. In addition to the Red Cross of Macedonia, the meeting was attended by guests from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies from Budapest and the Turkish Red Crescent, as well as representatives of NGOs and partners from the Republic of Bulgaria. On the session of the assembly greetings from the President of Bulgaria, the President of the National Assembly and several government ministries were read.
Foreign guests also gave greetings and acknowledged the humanitarian work of the Bulgarian Red Cross in Bulgaria and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Greetings were also given by The President of the Bulgarian Red Cross, Academician Hristo Grigorov, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Prof.PhD. Krasimir Gigov, and the Deputy President of the Bulgarian Red Cross, Prof. Zdravko Marinov. During the session the work report and work program of the Bulgarian Red Cross were reviewed, with an emphasis on the migrant crisis and mountain rescue service, water security, social programs, health preventive activities and youth activities.
During the conversation with the Academician Hristo Grigorov and the Secretary General PhD. Sofya Stoimenova, it was emphasized that over the years the two national societies have been continuously deepening their mutual cooperation. The satisfaction for this fact was expressed with the renewal of the bilateral cooperation by signing the last year’s memorandum of understanding, which is accompanied by an operational action plan that regulates the bilateral co-operation for each year. According to the signed agreement, several joint activities are foreseen by the end of the year. At the end of June representatives of the Bulgarian Red Cross will take part in the seminar for promoting blood donation, which will be held in Struga, Macedonia.
At the end of November 2018, a joint session of the management boards of the two national societies is scheduled to take place in Skopje, Macedonia. At the joint session, it was agreed that the management boards of the two national societies exchange experiences and good practices, with an emphasis on the work related to the adoption of a normative framework and policies for both national societies.
During the talks with the management board of the Bulgarian Red Cross, it was also discussed about the promotion of the cooperation between the two national societies of the Red Cross Sofia and Skopje, through the exchange of experiences, good practices and organization of joint activities. The existing cooperation between the Red Cross branches from both countries was also greeted with the hope that this cooperation will expand in new environments, for the best interest of the targeted vulnerable categories and the citizens of both countries.
