SOCIAL SERVICE “DAILY CENTER FOR OLDER PEOPLE AND CENTER FOR HOME CARE SUPPORT” CONTINUES TO OPERATE NORMALY IN TIMES OF EMERGENCY SITUATION

The Social Care Service for provision of assistance to older people, supported by the City Red Cross of Skopje, has been operating continuously during the state of emergency. All 200 older and frail persons were regularly visited in their homes and provided with their different needs. In compliance with the measures, more than 600 beneficiaries of the day care centers have been contacted at their homes, and their requests and needs have been acted upon. The medical staff, social workers and logistics facilities of the Red Cross of the City of Skopje are continuously put in function for procurement of the most necessary medicines, shopping, psychosocial support, checking glycemia and blood pressure or other needs in accordance with the available capacities. The existence of social services is extremely important in crisis situations or emergencies. The vulnerable categories have a place to turn for real information and sharing needs.
