VISIT OF DELEGATION OF THE CROATIAN RED CROSS TO THE MACEDONIAN RED CROSS

In the period from October 20 to 24, 2016, a delegation of the Red Cross of the Republic of Croatia consisted of Dr. Josip Jelic President, Robert Markt – executive president, Franjo Greguric and Josipa Rimac – Vice Presidents of the Red Cross of the Republic of Croatia had a working visit the Red Cross of the Republic of Macedonia. During the visit, there were meetings at the headquarters of the Red Cross of the Republic Macedonia with the President of the National Society – Dr. Milcho Trajkov and the Secretary General – PhD Sait Saiti where was discussed cooperation between the two national societies in the past, as well as the upcoming joint initiatives and activities to actualize and take in the near future.

The delegation, together with the Secretary General of the Red Cross of the Republic Macedonia PhD Sait Saiti visited the City Red Cross of Skopje, the station for the homeless, the logistic center of the Macedonian Red Cross, and the Red Cross branch Ohrid.

During the bilateral talks also there were discussions about the current challenges of both national societies related to migrant crisis and how to respond effectively with the latest wave of migrants. It was emphasized that there is need for continuous exchange of information and data in a timely manner to assist the needs of this target group and providing effective support to the authorities in the country.

Representatives of two national societies discussed and concluded that it is necessary to establish closer cooperation between the two national societies.
