Workshop for provision of first aid in cases of overdose of drugs and psychoactive substances

In the frames of the project “Maintaining low prevalence of HIV in Macedonia” on 09.09.2015 there was a workshop for provision of first aid in cases of overdose of drugs and psychoactive substances. Participants were representatives from the centers that are working on Harm reduction of drug abuse in Kichevo, Veles and Prilep, as well as direct beneficiaries of services.

Main goal of the workshop was gaining knowledge and skills for recognizing signs and symptoms in overdose cases, preventive measures that can be done and practical first aid demonstrations in such cases, information for usage of antidote Naloxon and it’s characteristics, benefits of usage etc. Workshop was held by Dr. Liljana Ignjatova from the Center for prevention and treatment of drug abuse and by Dr. Aneta Trgachevska from the Macedonian Red Cross.
